Monthly Schedule

(AP Statistics, Period B)

M 5/2/05

AP Free-Response Practice I (100 points). Again, everyone will take this, regardless of whether you are planning to take the real AP exam or not. Many examples of “short” (13-minute) and “long” (25-minute) questions are provided in the Barron’s review book.

Extra Credit (optional): Write up a selection of free-response problems from the Barron’s book or, better yet, from the College Board site. No collaboration permitted. You should be doing this practice work anyway (as a way of preparing for the exam), but if you can demonstrate something of good quality that is 100% your own work, I will “ease the pain” (as Tim C. said) of the recent tests. If you copy any portion of your solutions from the book or from another student, I will award 0 points and will detour you directly to the Honor Council.

Speaking of pain that needs to be eased, everyone failed Thursday’s test. Send me an e-mail over the weekend, and I will respond with your Friday score.

The answer key to today’s test is now available. You may wish to practice with a fresh blank copy.

T 5/3/05

AP Free-Response Practice II (100 points). Same format as yesterday. If you were happy with how you did yesterday, you need not show up today. If you take both tests, the higher score will be counted. If you missed yesterday’s test for an excused absence, today’s score will be counted.

W 5/4/05

AP Exam, 1:00 p.m., Trapier Theater. Bring calculator, spare batteries, and several sharpened pencils. Leave your cell phone at home. Class will not be held today, but I will be available in my office for extra help.

Th 5/5/05

First Shot at the real Must-Pass Quiz (no notes, no printouts, no calculator). If you pass, you earn 35 points. If you fail, you will try again another day. Everyone must pass. If you pass on or before May 20, you will be exempt from the final exam, even if your average has slipped below 80% (B).

The first student who passes will win a free STAtistics ’05 T-shirt!

As always, attendance today is required unless you have special permission from me.
