Monthly Schedule

(Geometry, Periods E and F)

W 12/1/04

HW due: Do a selection of review problems on pp. 264-267 (minimum of 35 minutes, but more than that would probably be a good idea if you wish to earn an A on the test). I would especially recommend #1, 11, 15, 19, 22, 25.

After review: Test on Chapter 5 (primarily short answer/ASN/multiple choice).

Th 12/2/04

Test on Chapter 5 (primarily longer problems, constructions, and proofs). Note that everyone will take both yesterday’s portion and today’s portion. Only the score from yesterday’s portion will be reflected in the mid-quarter averages, however. Mid-quarter warnings will be going home for anyone who is in danger of failing for the second quarter.

F 12/3/04

Class will be held as usual today. There is no additional HW due. Please get a good night’s sleep!

M 12/6/04

HW due: Read §6.2; write §6.1 #2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 18. Optional: re-read §6.1, which we covered orally on Friday.

T 12/7/04

HW due: Re-read §6.2 if necessary; write §6.2 #4, 5, 6, 9, 15, 16.

W 12/8/04

HW due: Read §6.3; write §6.3 #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9. I would also appreciate it if you would copy this elegant proof of §6.2 #5 into your notebook (courtesy of Sam S. in F period).

Spontaneous in-class activity: Sound wave analysis (harmonics, Doppler shift, etc.) from The Soundry.

Th 12/9/04

HW due: Review problems, pp. 288-290 #1-3 all, 5, 7, 9, 16; pp. 291-293 #1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 18. Also rewrite Theorem 49 in your own words. My words were, “2 || planes cut by a 3rd Þ lines of Ç are ||.” No, you may not use my words. Learn by writing your own!

F 12/10/04

HW due: Read §7.1; write §7.1 #2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9.

M 12/13/04

HW due: Finish up all previously assigned problems in Chapters 6 and 7, plus the previously assigned review problems on pp. 288-293, plus §7.1 #11, 19.

T 12/14/04

HW due: Read §7.2; write §7.2 #3, 5, 6, 8, 12. Now that you have some good hints for §7.1 #19, I expect that one to be complete also.

W 12/15/04

HW due: Write pp. 320-323 #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 16, 21. Also revisit any of the review problems due Thursday 12/9 that you were not able to finish.

Th 12/16/04

HW due: Read §7.3; write §7.2 #18 and any of the review problems from Thursday 12/9 and Wednesday 12/15 that may not yet be complete.

It is time to start thinking about the midterm exam. Here is a study guide and practice exam (longer and harder than the real exam) to help you prepare.

F 12/17/04

Quiz (10 pts.) on §§7.1 and 7.2.

No additional HW due (because of Lessons & Carols service 12/16).
