Monthly
Schedule
(AP
Calculus AB, Period D)
T
2/1/05 |
Practice Test on
Chapter 6 (ungraded). Please
take this seriously and study for it as if it were a real test. Look ahead to
the review problems on tomorrow’s calendar entry. |
|
W
2/2/05 |
Groundhog Day Test on Chapter 6. Note that §6.5 is mostly a rehash of §6.4, and we
have already covered §6.6. We will not do logistic growth, which is the
hardest part of §6.5. |
|
Th
2/3/05 |
No additional HW due.
However, this would be a great time to do a full check of the assignment that
was originally due on Th 1/20, and now that you have nearly all the answers, there is really no
reason why you couldn’t finish it. |
|
F
2/4/05 |
HW due:
Finish writing up Exploration 1 on p. 365 if you have not already done so;
write §7.1 #1-7 odd, 12-16 all. |
|
M
2/7/05 |
HW due: §6.2
#44, including check. If you take a cut today, you must get this to me one
way or another. E-mail is recommended, but slipping the paper under my door
is also acceptable. Other HW will not be checked until tomorrow. |
|
T
2/8/05 |
Quiz (10 pts.) on
displacement (a.k.a. net change in distance) and total distance. There may also be a diffeq. to solve and check. No
additional written HW due, but if you ran out of time on §7.1 by hitting the
35-minute limit, you need to log another 35 minutes. |
|
W
2/9/05 |
HW due:
Finish reading §7.1, especially the information at the bottom of p. 366.
Write #21, 22, 23, 30. Note that the parts of #23 are separable. For example,
you should be able to do (d) even if you could not answer (b) or (c). |
|
Th
2/10/05 |
Quiz (10 pts.), similar to Tuesday’s quiz. The second problem may be on work instead of
distance, for example. The time limit of 15 minutes will be firm this time.
We will begin the quiz about halfway through the period so that the
extra-timers can finish in 22½ minutes. Warning:
This means that extra-timers will need to work about twice as fast as on
Tuesday; everyone else will have to work about three times as fast. If you
have practiced with your copy of Tuesday’s
quiz, you should be all right. |
|
F
2/11/05 |
HW due:
Read pp. 378-379; write §7.2 #3-15 mo3 by hand (using FTC, showing all work),
16, 32, 33, 34, 38, 40. The rest of §7.2 is optional reading. |
|
M
2/14/05 |
HW due:
Review exercises (p. 413) #1, 4, 5, 10, 16, 18. Please do #10 without calculator (though you may use
your calculator to check your work).
Also make sure that your previously assigned HW for the second semester is
complete, and begin studying for your test. |
|
T
2/15/05 |
HW due:
Please finish your review problems if you have not already done so. |
|
W
2/16/05 |
“Rehash” Test (60 points) on Chapter 6. As we discussed in class, the test will consist of
several u substitutions, plus 2 of
the following 3 topics: Newton’s Law of Cooling, exponential growth, and
separable diffeqs. Note that either or both of the larger problems (approx.
10 minutes each) may require use of Euler’s Method and/or slope fields.
Integration by parts will not be tested this time. |
