Last Homework of the Year

Dear Students:

It has been a long, mostly productive year, and now we are finally nearing the end. I want to say, in all sincerity, that the level of dedication and accomplishment you showed in your group projects is without parallel in my years at St. Albans. Each one of the groups did a commendable job of collecting, analyzing, and reporting on a phenomenon of interest, and this is the first time that I can ever recall having all of the group projects turn out so successfully.

As you go forth into the world of higher education, and later into the world of career and family, I hope you will occasionally visit us here at STA. Next year, for example, I hope to institute a “Must-Pass Quiz” for the calculus, modeled after the similar version in the AP statistics class, and you are all welcome to return as a cheering section and/or kibitzing crew.

As your final homework assignment, please formulate 5 to 20 questions that would be good candidates for the Calculus Must-Pass Quiz in 2005. Feel free to visit the AP Statistics Must-Pass Quiz (http://www.modd.net/34stat/quizzes/mpquiz04.htm) to get a feel for the spirit of the contest.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your instructor this year, and I wish you all the best in the years ahead.

Sincerely,
Mr. Hansen
