|
W |
In

|
Th |
HW
due today: Write out 2 additional good features and 2 additional bad features
(not already discussed in class) for the Math Department
feedback form. You may work with other students, but in that case you
will still need additional entries (e.g., 4 features of each type if you work
in a group of 2, or 6 features of each type if you work in a group of 3). |
|
F |
Mini-Quiz on §3.3 and recent class

W |
Big Quiz (“Quest”) on all of Chapter 3,
survey design, and Monday’s guest speaker talk. |
|
Th |
In
class: Start §4.1 on other types of regression. Key ideas (assuming L1
holds your xi data and L2 holds your yi data):
|
|
F |
HW
due: #4.7 or 4.8 (your choice) on pp. 199-200. Note that 4.8 is less work,
but 4.7 has the advantage that the answers are in the back of the book. Show
your work. |
|
M |
HW
due: #4.7 and 4.8 on pp. 199-200 (finish both, written out cleanly and in
final form). |
|
T |
No
additional HW due. Now that the snipers have apparently been caught, you
should be working on your exploratory data
analysis project in earnest. |
|
W |
In
class: Hands-on pairs exercise involving ExpReg and PwrReg. |
|
Th |
HW
due: Finish the pairs project from yesterday, and be ready to present your
results at the chalkboard. If you have lost your sheet of curves, visit http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/growthcharts/set2clinical/cj41l075.pdf.
You should record about 10 ordered pairs of the form (xi, yi)
from one of the curves, perform linear, exponential, and power fits (showing
all work and residual plots), and then repeat everything for a second curve
of your choice. |
