   Quiz on Locus and
  Concurrence (Chapter 14). The quiz
will consist of 7 questions as follows:
1-4. Identify four diagrams as showing centroid, circumcenter, incenter, or
orthocenter. Remember that one of these has a second name, and you must write
  both names for full credit.
  5. Compound locus (similar to the problems we did in class on Tuesday, 5/13).
  6. Construction using ruler and compass.
  7. Simple locus.

  HW due: §15.3 #1, 2, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16. A solution key to problems 14 and 16 is available.

to these review problems and the proofs in
§15.3 are available, but please work them first (on the honor system)
  before checking.

Also, hand in your Concurrence Sketchpad Lab (printed version, not available

Test on Chapter 14 (§§14.1–14.3 only) and all of
Chapter 15. Required equipment: Calculator, pencils, compass, straightedge. While studying, please consult the answers
to review problems and the proofs in
§15.3. Be sure to contact me by voice mail or e-mail if you have any
  unresolved questions.

Note: This test is required for
those who missed class on Friday for sports commitments. I was in the Math
Lab Tuesday, Wednesday, and part of Thursday, and very few people came to see
me with questions on recent material. Since we covered no new material on
Thursday and Friday, I can only deduce that the people who did not ask
questions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were either behind on HW (which
is their responsibility) or were planning to do all their studying over the
weekend anyway (which, although not necessarily the best practice, is
certainly their decision to make). Please keep in mind that although sports
are very important in your life and the life of the school, academics are
  always a slightly higher priority.

Field trip to the National Cryptologic Museum. Bus will
depart promptly at 8:00 a.m. and will return to STA at about 1:00 p.m.

Where to board: Bus will load in front of the Lower School. We will try to send runners to a few other places
around campus to round up people who may be in the wrong place.

What to wear: Free dress, but please remember that you are
representing STA. I reserve the right to deny boarding for sloppiness. To be
safe, please wear a shirt with a collar, and avoid sandals, cutoffs, and
  soiled or torn clothing.

   HW due: Correct yesterday’s
practice test to 100%. This will be a graded assignment—not the answers, but
the corrections. In other words, you should be learning from your mistakes,
and believe me, there were lots of mistakes. Check out the scoring results to see how you did.

You may work with friends, but it is more helpful to try to puzzle the
answers out by yourself and then cross-check (i.e., using an alternate
method) to make sure they are correct. Miles, Alex W., and Joe need to see me
first thing in the morning to pick up their papers.

   Last day of school.

In class: Go over the Chapter 13 test in
  detail.

Regarding the Chapter 14-15 test (given 5/19/2003), please note that it is not yet graded. Luckily,
there is a solution key available, and only
the Chapter 15 material (inequalities and Hinge Theorem) will be on the final
exam anyway. (A small “locus bonus” question may occur at the end, but other
than that, you may skip Chapter 14 when studying for the final exam.) If you
come by my office next week, I should have the graded test papers ready for
  you to pick up.
