Geometry Monthly Schedule

(Periods D and E)

T 10/1/02

HW due: Read §2.7; write §2.6 #2, 3, 10, 12, 14.

Also due: Turn in your Sketchpad Lab I report. If you worked with somebody else, each person must submit his own report. No copying! Write your own words for the answers that require sentences. Copying is an Honor Code violation and will be dealt with severely.

W 10/2/02

HW due: Read §2.8; write §2.7 #5*, 9, 13, 14, 16, 18. We will skip problems in §2.8 for now, since we have essentially already covered the topic of vertical Ðs.

Th 10/3/02

HW due: Read §3.1; write pp. 106-109 #12, 15, 16, 20, 21, 31, 34, and §3.1 #1-5 all (4 and 5 can be oral).

F 10/4/02

HW due: §3.2 #1, 2, 4*, 5*, 10. Several students have not yet made up last Friday's quiz; these will turn into zeros if not corrected immediately.

In class: Assign bar codes and take in-class quiz (3 proofs).

M 10/7/02

HW due: Read §3.2 and §3.3; write §3.3 #2*, 5*, 7, 8, 11, 19. Also finish your in-class quiz (3 proofs) from Friday if you have not already done so. We will go over all 3 proofs in detail.

In class: Begin reviewing for test and work on practice test.

Note: §3.2 and the proofs from Friday 10/4 are fair game for Wednesday’s test (including CPCTC), but the circle-related material from §3.3 will not be on the test.

T 10/8/02

Review day. After you have worked the practice test problems, be sure to check the partial list of answers. Remember that questions regarding congruence, SSS, SAS, and ASA (i.e., §§3.1-3.2) will also be on tomorrow’s test, as well as CPCTC from §3.3.

W 10/9/02

Test on §§2.1-3.2, plus CPCTC.

Th 10/10/02

HW due: Read §3.4; write §3.4 #1, 4*, 6, 8*, 13.

F 10/11/02

No school.

M 10/14/02

T 10/15/02

W 10/16/02

F 10/18/02

Mini-Quiz on recent HW (ASA, SSS, SAS, HL, CPCTC, etc.): will probably consist of a proof with blanks to fill in.

HW due: Read and work diligently on the sample proof, and write out the following review problems (pp.162-164): #1, 3*, 7-10 all, 12*, 15.

In class: Work on sample test handout and the two additional practice proofs on board.

M 10/21/02

HW due: Finish the sample test and the two additional practice proofs, and check your answers against the answer key.

T 10/22/02

Test on Chapter 3. As you study, please look at this example of a "diagramless" proof (as discussed in class on Monday, 10/21).

Today's test is the last graded item that will appear in your first quarter average. Everything after today will be recorded in the second quarter.

W 10/23/02

HW due: Please bring a printout of Sketchpad Lab II to class with you. No penalty if you forget; you need a night off.

In class: Work on computers.

Th 10/24/02

In class: Work on computers.

F 10/25/02

HW due: Turn in Sketchpad Lab II after 15 minutes of class time. Many of you are close enough that you will be able to finish up without attending Math Lab on Wednesday or Thursday. If you are able to finish before class starts, you may come to class 15 minutes late without penalty.

Today is the last day of the first quarter.

M 10/28/02

HW due: Read §§4.1 and 4.2; write §4.1 #2*, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12*. Also, Sketchpad Lab II will be accepted without penalty until 3:30 p.m. today. (After that, lateness penalties will apply.)

T 10/29/02

No additional HW due today.

W 10/30/02

HW due: Read §4.3; write §4.2 #7, 9*, 11, 12.

Th 10/31/02

HW due: Read §4.4; write §4.3 #5, 6, 12*, 14, 15. Also, finish the problem that was posed on the board Wednesday (furnish diagram, "givens," and "prove"): In any quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are congruent, the diagonals bisect each other.
