HappyCal Monthly Schedule

(Honors AP Calculus, Period B)

M 3/3/03

HW due: Read §10.4. Then do the related rates practice problem on the Web, and write §10-4 #2, 3, 4, 9, 13. Please note that there is at least one typo in the Web exercise; the first spotter will get the half point.

T 3/4/03

HW due: §10-5 #2, 3, 6, 8, 14.

W 3/5/03

HW due: §10-6 #1, 2, 5, 9, 12.

Th 3/6/03

HW due: §10-7 #5, 7, 13, 14.

F 3/7/03

Review. Please take the student-produced practice test, leaving part of it for the weekend if you cannot finish it in one sitting. Then, after you have finished, consult the answer key and contact me if you have any questions. If time permits, you may wish to practice taking the practice test under controlled conditions with a 50-minute time limit.

M 3/10/03

HW due: Finish the student-produced practice test and check answers against the answer key. We will spend the second half of the period reviewing for the test, but during the first half we will begin working on Chapter 11. If you have extra time over the weekend, please read §11-1 and §11-2.

Here is another practice test to help you prepare for tomorrow’s test.

T 3/11/03

Test on Chapter 10. This test will include motion and average-value problems from the early part of the chapter.

. . . Well, that was the schedule. Here’s what actually happened. We took the first half (10 questions, multiple choice, no calculator), except that because your fearless teacher forgot to proctor the test correctly, we had to scratch the results and treat them as a practice test. They were good practice AP problems, though! See entries for 3/12 and 3/13 to see the recovery plan.

W 3/12/03

HW due: Read §§11-1 through 11-3 if you have not already done so, and write §11-1 #5, §11-2 #1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Also (during first 30 minutes of period): Test Redux on Chapter 10. This will account for 50% of your Chapter 10 test grade. The other 50% will be based on a 7-minute oral examination. Please use the sheet on my office door to sign up for a time slot.

Th 3/13/03

HW due: Read §11-6; write §11-3 #2, 6, 7, 11, 12.

By
3:00 p.m. today, everyone should have also taken the oral examination portion of the Chapter 10 test.

F 3/14/03

HW due: §11-6 #4, 8, or 15 (your choice), plus §12-1 #1-7 all.

March 15-30

Spring break.

If time permits, I will post third quarter grades (by codename) on Monday, March 31.

M 3/31/03

HW due: No required work, but please check the answers to §11-6 to make sure you could solve your selected problem from March 14. Actually, all three problems are worthy of your attention in case you have some extra time over the break. Working practice problems in the Barron’s review book (or a similar AP review book) is also recommended.

GRADES

Third quarter grades are now posted.
