Optional Test Corrections

The number of points available (which will be the same for all students) will be announced in class. Your corrections must consist of three parts, as listed below, and if all three parts are perfect, you will receive the designated number of points. Partial credit (for less-than-perfect corrections) is possible but is not guaranteed. These are not "free points"; you will have to work quite hard to earn them. You may work with your friends, but copying is not permitted. If I feel that your collaboration has crossed into the region of copying, you will not earn any points.

Part I: A, S, or N with justification.
Answer the following 10 "always, sometimes, never" questions in writing. If the answer is A or N, provide a mini-proof or a 2-column proof. If the answer is S, provide both an example and a counterexample.

1.

The diagonals of a kite bisect each other.

2.

A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of opposite sides congruent is an isosceles trapezoid.

3.

A quadrilateral with all pairs of consecutive angles congruent is a rectangle.

4.

A figure is both a kite and a trapezoid.

5.

A figure is both a kite and a rectangle.

6.

An equilateral quadrilateral is equiangular.

7.

A trapezoid has an acute angle.

8.

A line and a point determine a plane.

9.

A line that is perpendicular to each of two parallel lines is perpendicular to the plane that contains them.

10.

Two lines perpendicular to the same plane are coplanar.

Part II: Other corrections on separate sheet.
On a separate sheet of paper, correct the rest of your test. If the correction is trivial (e.g., a misspelled word) and is already marked in red, you may skip it.

Part III: Oral defense.
Make an appointment to see me before or after school, or during Math Lab. I will probe your knowledge for 5-10 minutes to make sure that you really have learned the material thoroughly.
