Pairs Assignments for Project #4
I apologize for the delay in assigning pairs. As you know, I had planned to announce the pairs on Friday, March 16, but unfortunately I made some errors in the randomization that I could not quickly correct on the day our guest speaker, Mr. Mills, made his presentation.
If you are unhappy with your partner assignment, I am sorry. Everyone had two days in which to let me know about any assignments that would be unacceptable. Remember that you are free to work in a vacuum if you wish, although your scores for clippings and VHA(S)TPC analysis will still be averaged with those of your partner.
In recognition of the delay in announcing pairings, I will extend the deadline until Monday, April 9, for anyone who can demonstrate some work performed over the spring break. For example, you should have collected one or two newspaper clippings, or should have read most or all of How to Lie With Statistics. Only those who have done nothing will be held to the original April 5 deadline. The spot check will occur during class on Monday, April 2. If you are absent that day for any reason (including an excused absence), you will be held to the April 5 deadline unless you make up the spot check with me on your own time.
Pairs are listed below, along with experiments from Project #3 that should be analyzed with VHA(S)TPC writeups. Note that each pair has been given one project from D period and one project from F period. It is acceptable if both members of a pair agree to swap projects with each other (not with other groups). For example, if Tad Bardenwerper and Michael Matthews both decide that Tad should analyze experiment #5 and Michael should analyze experiment #4, that is OK and can be done without any additional approval. However, in the event of any disagreement, the assignments shown below will prevail.
If you feel a pressing need to analyze an experiment other than the one you were assigned, and your partner will not allow you to swap, please send your appeal to me by e-mail and await a written decision by return e-mail.
IMPORTANT: To see the short title and summary of an experiment, along with lists of all names of group members from Project #3, visit resu3_01.htm.
