Geometry Monthly Schedule

(Period C)

Th 2/1/01

No additional HW due today. However, because some people have still not turned in the Pythagorean Theorem Worksheet, it will be accepted today for partial credit.

F 2/2/01

HW due today: Read §9.9; write §9.9 #2, 3, 7, 9, 13, 14, 18. There will also be a Happy Quiz to help those who were unable to finish Wednesday’s test in the time provided. This quiz cannot hurt you. The material covered by the Happy Quiz will be §§9.1 through 9.8, as on the test itself.

M 2/5/01

HW due: Read §9.10; write §9.10 #6, 8-11 all, 17, 19.

T 2/6/01

HW due: Trigonometry Problems Worksheet.

W 2/7/01

Quiz on Right-Triangle Trigonometry. Problems will be similar to those you worked on the Trigonometry Problems Worksheet.

Th 2/8/01

HW due: Read §10.1; write §10.1 #5, 6, 10*, 11, 14, 16, 17, 22.
* Formal proof required.

F 2/9/01

HW due: Read §10.2; write §10.2 #2, 6, 8*, 11, 12, 13.
* Formal proof required.

M 2/12/01

HW due: Read §10.3; write §10.3 #2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 18, 19.

T 2/13/01

HW due: Read §10.4; write §10.4 #2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 22.

W 2/14/01

HW due: Read §10.5; write §10.5 #5, 6, 10, 12, 19, 22.

Th 2/15/01

HW due: Read §10.6; write §10.6 #3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 16.

F 2/16/01

HW due: Read §10.7; write §10.7 #3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12. Because next week is very busy, you should begin working on review problems (pp.505-509) #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 17. Also, please start on Sketchpad Lab on Intersecting Chords, Secants, and Tangents if you have time before the weekend begins.

M 2/19/01

No school.

T 2/20/01

Read §10.8, write §10.8 #1, 2, 3a, 4a, 5, 8, 11, 12, 16. Continue working on Sketchpad Lab on Intersecting Chords, Secants, and Tangents and review problems (pp.505-509) #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 17.

W 2/21/01

HW due: Read §10.9; write §10.9 #2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 14. Also, finish review problems (pp.505-509) #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 17. Before 3:30 p.m., hand in Sketchpad Lab on Intersecting Chords, Secants, and Tangents.

Th 2/22/01

Test on Chapter 10. You should focus on the following:

Definitions: distance of a point to a line (see #15 on p.179), central Ð, arc measure.

Postulates: see two at bottom of p.459.

Theorems: 74-75, 86, 88, 90, 91, 92, 93, 95, 97. There is no need to memorize the exact wording. However, you should memorize the "functional application" of each theorem. For example, you should remember the theorem about intersecting chords by making an "X" on a circle and thinking (seg. 1 left side) (seg. 1 right side) = (seg. 2 left side) (seg. 2 right side). Do a problem that tests your knowledge of each theorem.

Other: sum of m(Ðs in a D) = 180, sum of m(Ðs in a convex quad.) = 360, and the famous Pythagorean Theorem.

This is list is not guaranteed to be comprehensive. However, it is guaranteed to be helpful in focusing your study time productively.

F 2/23/01

Day of Rest.

M 2/26/01

HW due: Read §11.1; write §11.1 #3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 15, 16. (This is an easy section, so I’m hoping you can read and understand this on your own. If so, this will keep us slightly ahead of schedule.)

T 2/27/01

HW due: Read §11.2; write §11.2 #1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23.

W 2/28/01

HW due: Read §11.3; write §11.2 #26-27 and §11.3 #2, 3, 8, 10, 11, 17.
